News & Events

March is Red Cross month. This year, the Red Cross is encouraging people to invest in their communities, find out what the Red Cross does in their community and get involved. It is these people, the volunteers and donors that invest in our communities, that enable the Red Cross to respond at a moments notice to the needs of vulnerable people in communities in Canada and around the world.

“When an earthquake shatters lives in Iran, the Canadian Red Cross can respond because of the generosity of donors. When youth need to learn about preventing violence in their relationships, or when a senior needs a wheelchair so they can recuperate from hip surgery, we can respond because of our dedicated volunteers,” says Shirley Diaz, Southern Alberta Regional Director of the Red Cross.

To find our more about the Red Cross, Red Cross Month, and how you can get involved or donate, please visit the Red Cross website or call your local Red Cross Branch.

Every year, Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) features wines from different regions of the world. In the past, these regions have included Portugal, Greece and Italy. Next year’s event, also to be held in November, will feature wines from Australia.
