In the Fall of 1999 at the Meals on Wheels Annual General Meeting, a discussion, vote and recommendation was held and made by the Volunteer component of our audience. They requested that the Volunteer recognition be done in such a way as to benefit the community that they serve through their efforts at Meals on Wheels (Sudbury). The ensuing recommendation that came from the group regarding how we recognize resulted in the development of the “Volunteer Recognition Garden.”
A visible community site is chosen annually. Meals On wheels supplies the initial cost of design, plant choice perennials and maintain the garden for the first year A Bronze Plaque is then mounted in recognition of the many Volunteers who supported us annually.
2003 will acknowledge and recognize the long history and outstanding relationship Meals On wheels (Sudbury) has had with Finlandia Village.
Thank you to all of our hard-working volunteers and Keep watching our news section for more info on the 2003 Volunteer Recognition Garden. |
