Daily hot meals cost $7.00, diabetic meals costs $7.25, and HMRs cost $7.25. All prices are subject to change.

How does it work?
Hot nutritious meals are delivered to your door Monday to Friday between the hours of 10:30 am and 1:00 pm by a well trained volunteer. The HMR’s (Frozen Meal Program) are delivered by-monthly..
What are the meals like?
The meals cover 40% of your recommended daily nutrition. The hot meals include milk, protein in the form of meat, starches (bread, potatoes or pasta), vegetables, soup, salad, and a dessert. HMRs are frozen meals that offer the same 40% daily calorie intake. However, milk and salad are not included in HMRs.
What if I am not home?
Arrangements can be made no later than 24 hours prior to delivering the meal to an alternate address or left at Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) office for pick up by client. Without prior notice, a volunteer will attempt to deliver the meal. If the client is not home, the meal will be returned to Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) office and client will be charged for the meal..
Are your clients only Senior Citizens?
No, we have clients that are under 65 that suffer from a variety of other illnesses that render them unable to prepare meals for themselves. Please visit our eligibility section for more information.
How soon can I get started?
The average start up time is 24 hours, excluding weekends.
Who delivers the meals?
Meals are delivered each and every weekday by our dedicated volunteers from our community.
Do you accommodate special diets?
We have diabetic meals and cut food for special diets. Pureed and other special diets are ordered through our HMR program.
Do you accommodate vegetarian diets?

Where does the food come from?
The ‘Hot Meals’ are prepared fresh daily in our commercial kitchen, Home Of Our Own Catering a division of Meals On Wheels (Sudbury). Our ‘Frozen Meal’ (HMR) program is ordered in and delivered for holidays and weekends.
Can the volunteer leave my meal if I am not home one day?
No, Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) policy is that volunteers are instructed to never leave a meal unattended. It is important to make contact with clients and ensure everything is okay as well as ensure food safety. If the meal cannot be eaten right away we recommend that it is refrigerated.
What if I have an emergency and can't call until that morning?
We understand emergencies happen. Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) wants to ensure your safety and well being. We encourage you to contact the office or ask another individual to contact us as soon as possible. Our office is open Monday to Friday between the hours of 9 am to 4:30 pm or leave a message on our answering service after hours (705) 525-4554.

How is Meals on Wheels Funded?
Meals on Wheels is partially funded by the Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care. Other revenue sources include client fees, donations, fundraising and special project funding.
Are donations tax deductible?
Yes, donations in the forms of cash, bequeaths, gifts in kind, and in memoriams are all tax deductible. When a donations is received, a tax receipt is promptly sent out to the donor.

You can make a gift in memory of a special person indicating in who's name the gift is being given. An acknowledgement card will be sent along with a tax receipt.

What can my congregation or company do to help?
Your congregation or company can become an Employer Supported Volunteer (E.S.V.). E.S.V.s are employees who volunteer for a nonprofit organization through a partnership between their employer and the nonprofit organization. Employer Supported Volunteers may wish to hold a fundraising event to benefit Meals on Wheels, take up a collection or a "love offering," ask employer to match an employee donation, or even allow employees to volunteer during regular business hours.
