On Monday November 29 and Tuesday November 30, 2004, City of Greater Sudbury Council members showed their community spirit by taking time out of their busy schedules to help deliver hot nutritious meals to Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) clients.
After a brief tour of the Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) space, Councillors were led through a quick orientation, given their route list and partnered with a seasoned volunteer. After confirming meal counts for their routes, loading the meals into their respective vehicles and pausing for a brief photo op, the Councillors and volunteers were off to make their deliveries and say a brief hello to clients.
Ward 1 Councillor Terry Kett was paired with Marjorie Shaw, delivering meals in Walden. Ward 5 Councillor Frances Caldarelli was paired with Laurette Tremblay and Françoise Laforest, delivering meals in Nickel Centre. Our Tansportation Clerk Mike Clement took Ward 4 Councillor Ron Dupuis to our Valley Depot, where he was paired with Gerry and Donna Chartrand to deliver to our Valley East and Capreol clients.
Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) would like to thank Terry Kett, Ron Dupuis and Frances Caldarelli for volunteering their time to help deliver meals and brighten the day for many of our clients. Volunteers enjoyed your company and appreciated the helping hand. It is hoped that other members of the community will follow your leads and also make themselves available to support ours and other community support agencies. Thank you again for a job well done. |
