News & Events

Over the past few months, Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) has received donations from a variety of sources that have stepped up to the plate to offer support to our community through Meal Programs.

December 2003, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76 presented a $1000.00 cheque that came to us as a result of our Annual Letter Campaign. The Royal Canadian Legion has been a community based service group that has responded to our needs for years. Several branches throughout our service area support their local communities by providing various support to Meals On Wheels (Sudbury). All donations from our Annual Letter Campaign assist in achieving our Annual Fundraising goal which for 2003 is $40,000.00.

January of 2004, Jason Adamek of Shell Canada Products presented Paul Kusnierczyk – Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) Board Member with a cheque for $952.30 which will be put towards the purchase of Heat Packs. These funds were accessed through a Community Development Fund that Shell Canada provides through it’s Franchise Owners in support of their community efforts. These dollars will go a long way in ensuring that meal quality will be maintained throughout our service area.

On January 28, 2004 Julie DeSimone – Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) Board President received a cheque for $6,000.00 from the Sudbury Kinsmen as a result of the 21st Annual Showcase Sweepstakes. Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) was one of 17 recipient charities that benefited from the outstanding work 18 men do in our community. (See Letter to Editor)

We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding contributions and thank The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76, Shell Canada, and The Sudbury Kinsmen for their hard work and sense of community.
